Although we love the Show-style Siamese-- they have the same wonderful
personalities as the Old-style-- we do not breed them at this time. Our
immediate breeding goal is saving multiple old lineages and keeping them
healthy. Sadly, many of the old Siamese genes and lineages have been lost
and can never be recovered. Our kittens are registered with CFF and/or
TICA and ACA. They have pedigrees dating back to the introduction of
Siamese to the United States (and beyond that, to the United Kingdom). *

BLACKFOOT RIVER Cattery is a proud member of PREOSSIA,
(Prestwick-Beresford Old-Style Siamese Breed Preservation Society) the
club that first named and defined the Old-Style Siamese and that is still the
only club in North America exclusively devoted to preserving Old-Style
Siamese. The Stonearch and Cloud City Catteries mirror these same goals.
Inquiries via email are welcome, as are questions via email about the cats,
the cattery, and the Old-Style Siamese breed.

THAI /OLD STYLE SIAMESE
Blackfoot River Cattery is a small cattery in Montana. Our
kitten clients tell us that they have had difficulty locating
Old-Style kittens with authentic Siamese pedigrees. This
unfortunate situation is due to the fact that the Old-Style is
on the verge of extinction as the show rings of the major
cat fancies rewarded only a thin, short-hired and big
eared extreme of the Siamese breed. TICA now has full
Championship Breed show status for the Old Style
Siamese renamed "Thai" to distinguish them from the
modern and extreme changes to the Siamese currently
being shown. Thai designation allows the wonderful Old
Style Siamese to again be shown and "re-discovered" by
those who loved the Siamese of their youth!

All of our kittens formerly were raised with our two 80 lb "pound puppies"
who were adopted as unwanted progeny of canines that had not been
spayed or neutered. The white one pictured here was part Husky, part
white Shepard and probably had a bit of wolf. Wolf hybrids were popular
(and foolish) in Maine where we adopted him 16 years ago. We have since
lost him to old age. Our, big black dog, was a 50/50 bloodhound poodle
mix that looked like an Otterhound. Our dogs and cats grew to love, and
to trust, each other.
Unfortunately, our newest kittens will not have experience with canines.
